Preface

I am an honor to be presented “Parents should also become at the least the half-doctors-Child and Family Home Nursing Care  Encyclopedia “Chapter 7 Infectious Disease Website for Children and Adolescents” to 80 million Koreans and  70 billion people around the world.

This is a revised edition of "parents should be at least the half-doctors - Encyclopedia of Pediatric and Family Nursing (2nd edition, 1998) and parents must also become anti doctors - Volume 7 of the Encyclopedia of Pediatric and Family Home Nursing Care “-www.koreapediatrics.com (2001-2020).

Infectious diseases are the kind of diseases that are every day, the department of Pediatrics treats children and adolescents suffering from infectious diseases with symptoms, signs such as fever, runny nose, cough, and diarrhea.

When a child or adolescent is diagnosed with an infectious disease, it is common for mothers and fathers to worry and ask what is the causative pathogen, how to diagnose it, how to treat it, and how to prevent it from contracting it.

This is a natural question.

Even if we do not receive such a question, our pediatricians, of course, explain to the patient and mother and father about the infectious disease that has occurred in the child.

More than 1,000 types of pathogens can cause infectious diseases in children and adolescents, including viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and parasites.

There are countless antiviral drugs, antibiotics, and antiparasitic drugs that can treat such infectious diseases.

Therefore, even pediatric specialists who treat children and adolescents at the forefront of the Department of Pediatrics had a difficult time knowing all the types of infectious diseases that can occur in children and adolescents, the types of causative pathogens, methods of diagnosis and treatment, and antibiotics that can be used for treatment.

Since the pathogens causing infectious diseases have developed resistance to antibiotics that have been widely used for a long time in the past, there are no antibiotics that can easily treat the infectious disease, causing serious medical problems.

There are over 30 types of vaccines that can prevent bacterial and viral infections.

These days, in the age of living in a borderless global village, infectious diseases are not limited to one region or one country but spread to countries around the world without borders.

As such, children and adults alike can be infected with more pathogens than ever before.

Therefore, mothers and fathers cannot rely solely on doctors or the medical policy of the national society.

It is necessary to know a lot about the types of infectious diseases that can occur in children and adolescents, causes, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention.

Of course, medical professionals and mothers and fathers of children and adolescents need to know more through this kind of reference book.

In 1938, the first red book on infectious diseases in children and adolescents was published in the United States. The first edition was only about 100 pages, but now the 31st edition in 2021 has 1213 pages.

This Red Book is an indispensable pediatric infectious disease bible when treating infectious diseases in children and adolescents, and it is a guideline for infectious diseases in children and adolescents that pediatricians refer to when treating infectious diseases in children and adolescents, like the spoons that are worn while eating.

Now, mothers and fathers, too, when young children or teenagers get sick with a fever, take their temperature, look through their throats with a light, and take into account the symptoms and signs at that time to find out what kind of infectious disease they have and how to diagnose how they got it.

We live in a time when we have to think about whether to start treatment and apply it to treatment.

In other words, we are living in a time when mothers and fathers need to start primary diagnosis and treatment for their children's infectious diseases at home.

Group A beta-hemolytic streptococcal pharyngeal tonsillitis, which can cause terrible rheumatic fever and cause sepsis and meningitis, can be easily confirmed within 10 minutes by mothers and fathers or non-medical workers at home with a group A hemolytic streptococcal antigen-antibody agglutination test.

There is.

It can be diagnosed as if you were taking a pregnancy test.

Children and adolescents in the Korean language that our doctors or mothers and fathers can refer to in diagnosing and treating infectious diseases of children and adolescents accordingly, knowing what types of infectious diseases there are, what symptoms and signs, how to diagnose, treat, and how to prevent them Infectious disease guidelines are a must for moms and dads.

“Pediatric Infectious Diseases” is the author’s experience in pediatrics and the latest reference books and journals in pediatrics and pediatrics, which the author has gained while actually treating the health and disease of about 500,000 children and adolescents for over 40 years at the Korean American Pediatric Department.

Based on the latest and practical information on infectious diseases in children and adolescents obtained from pediatric and pediatric science training and education, it is an easy-to-read and easy-to-understand book for mothers and fathers.

Although some have a professional side, this infectious disease in children and adolescents will be a reference Bible for pediatric infectious diseases for mothers and fathers, which can be used as a reference for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases, especially in children and adolescents, together with doctors.

We hope to be able to use it practically when our children have an infectious disease.

I believe that some of the information here is very professional and there are some shortcomings.

We ask for your relentless feedback so that we can continue to revise and improve in the future.

For more information, please get more from your regular pediatrician or other reference books.

If it helps a lot, please recommend it to your relatives.

Thank you to everyone who modeled the picture here and to everyone who participated in “Ask the Internet for Children and Teenagers”.

In particular, I hope that all North Koreans will use it a lot.

Special thanks to CEO, Hanwoong Chung for creating this Chapter 7 Infectious Diseases in Children and Adolescents website.

If you need more information, you can get more information from reference websites, paper books, ebooks, etc., such as Google, www.patiented.aap.org, WebMD.com, and the US CDC.
