Infectious diseases and symptomatic treatments

Infectious diseases and symptomatic treatments

• Infectious diseases are also called Contagious diseases.

• Any kind of infectious disease can be treated in the following ways.

If the cause of the infectious disease is known and also if there is any medicine that is able to eradicate the cause of that infectious disease, in this situation, such a medicine can be used to eradicate the cause and also a symptomatic treatment can be used. but sometimes only symptomatic treatment can be used such as in the common cold treatments.

• When there are symptoms and signs such as fever, vomiting, sore throat, loss of appetite, and muscle pain in the common cold or some viral gastroenteritis, there is no specific medicine for the treatment of common colds or gastroenteritis caused by viral infection.

• So, such symptoms caused by the common cold virus are often treated according to the symptoms that arise from time to time but not treatment with eradicating the original cause.

• This kind of treatment is called symptomatic treatment.

• In other words, symptomatic treatment is a kind of treatment for treating symptoms that arise from time to time without eradicating treating the causative agent of an infectious disease.

For Example, when treating an infectious disease such as a common cold, a treatment to fundamentally remove the cause of the infectious disease after knowing the causative agent is also provided, and the method to treating the infectious disease by estimating the causative agent before knowing the causative agent of the infectious disease for sure.

• When the causative agent of the infectious disease is known but the pathogen cannot be radically eliminated, of course, the pathogen cannot be radically removed and treated. In this case, only symptomatic treatment is performed according to the symptoms caused by the infectious disease.

• For example, when treating a common cold, a type of viral infection of the upper respiratory tract, it is common not to treat to kill the common cold virus with an antiviral agent that kills the virus that caused the cold.

• Therefore, symptomatic treatment of cold symptoms such as headache, sore throat, and muscle pain caused by a common cold virus can be treated only symptomatically with antipyretic analgesics such as Tylenol or Motrin.

• Symptoms such as runny nose or sneezing caused by a common cold can be treated symptomatically with nasal mucosal decongestants, such as Sudafed/Pseudoephedrine, depending on the symptoms caused by the common cold.

• Symptoms of headache and fever caused by a cold can be treated symptomatically with antipyretic analgesics such as Motrin or Tylenol, depending on the symptoms of headache and fever.

• In summary, when you have a common cold, symptomatic treatment for symptoms such as headache, runny nose, and fever caused by a common cold with antipyretic analgesics.

• A runny nose can be treated symptomatically with nasal mucosal decongestants, or by frequently blowing and wiping the nose.

• In this way, when you suffer from an infectious disease or some other disease, the method of treating the symptoms that occur at the time rather than the basic treatment of removing or treating the causative pathogen is called symptomatic treatment or symptomatic therapy.

• There is no specific medicine that fundamentally cures measles. Symptoms caused by measles can be treated symptomatically.

• There is no cure for most viral infections, with the exception of a few viral infections.

• For this reason, when a person suffers from a viral infection for which there is no specific treatment, symptomatic treatment is mainly used to treat the symptoms and signs caused by the infectious disease caused by the virus infection.
